Everything Is 4 The Best

So it’s easy to get down on life when bad things happen.

But it’s funny how when we just take a little perspective or in retrospect…

We realize that everything G-d does is really for our best!

It may not look and feel that way at the moment.

But there comes an inner awakening about things when we see the bigger picture.

And then we sort of nod our heads knowingly:

“Ah, that’s why that happened!”

There are many reasons, G-d may be directing something:

– Opening new and better opportunities for us.

– Teaching us important life lessons.

– Putting us someplace we need to be to help someone else.

– Even saving us from some worse catastrophe.

For G-d, there is no time or space–He supersedes all of these.

He puts us where we need to be when we need to be for His bigger plan for our good.

Also, when you think you have a problem, remember to look at what others may be going through.

Because there are problems and then there are problems!

As my dad used to say:

“The guy complained he had no shoes, until he saw the guy without any feet!”

Is your problem really so bad–maybe yes, maybe no.

Try for a second to think of others you know and what they are going through.

Imagine for a moment–what does really bad look like, feels like.

G-d works in what seems like mysterious ways.

But we can uncover the mystery and discover the holiness and grand plan of it all–if we just look beyond ourselves and towards the heavens.

Oh G-d, thank you for all that you do for us–your wisdom is glorious; your lessons are to teach me to be a better me; and your mercy endures forever. 😉

DC Lights It Up – Just Physical or More

Lights1.jpegLights2.jpegLights3.jpegLights4.jpegLights5.jpegLights6.jpegLights7.jpegLights8.jpeg

Wanted to share these beautiful lights from around Washington, D.C.

They are all sort of magnificent!

But even while I am marveling at them, my mind is tearing another way…

I am thinking, there is physical light, yet in so many ways the world seems dark.

We have lots technological progress to be proud of, and yet there are big problems all over the horizon.

Nuclear and missile proliferation, and rising cyber threats.

– Rising global terrorism and potential for military conflicts

– Spiraling national debt and the trust funds for social entitlements running out

– Rising discrimination and associated hate crimes

– Family strains and the decline of marriage

– Challenges in confidence with organized religion

World leadership at a crossroads.

We need light–but not just the physical type.

Transparency, enlightenment to solve big problems and a spiritual awakening to ensure good wins out over evil are all on order. 😉

Undergoing A Spiritual Awakening

Wake Up.jpeg.JPG

My wife sent me this beautiful photo about spiritual awakenings.

She found it on a new age blog, but I really thought it was great.

As I contemplated this, I felt like I was reaching some truths.

Because when we are released from the constraints of the purely physical and material world, we can elevate ourselves to an expanded realm of both perception and inner peace.

So here is what the essence of a spiritual awakening is to me:

Hope you like this and I would welcome others’ thoughts on this.

Happy and peaceful new year to all.

The Trump Twitter Genius

Trump Twitter.JPEG

President-elect Trump is a Twitter genius!

At 70-years old, he has managed to use a millennial social media tool to take on the world, and despite opponents questioning of his temperament, so far he has unequivocally won with it.

Using Twitter, Trump defeated candidates from Cruz to Clinton in running for president of the United States and at a fraction the cost.

Using Twitter, Trump has shaped not only policy discussion, but national sentiments around healthcare, over-regulation, tax reform, and even updating our critical nuclear deterrent capability.

Using Twitter, Trump has strengthened alliances and friendships with nation and states from Israel to Taiwan and decreased escalating tensions with Russia.

Using Twitter, Trump has put competitors and adversaries on notice about bad behavior from China to North Korea.

Using Twitter, Trump is setting the stage for correcting economic problems and imbalances from unfair trade practices to shipping jobs overseas.

Using Twitter, Trump gets around media bias and messages and connects directly with the people of the world.

Of course, it is critical to vet important communications and ensure they are accomplishing the goal, but this needs to be weighed with the ability to reach out and get the message out quickly and effectively to the masses…and it’s a most fascinating and delicate balance that needs to be achieved.

So far though, we are no longer working at the speed of government, but at the speed of the Internet.

This is an incredible awakening in politics, but also for everyone on the incredible power of social media tools to communicate directly, unvarnished, and with impact, and no one has done it better than Donald Trump.

The mastery of social media will continue to depend on messaging with speed, significance, and effect balanced with the vigilance as to exactly when to hit that crucial send button to the Twitterverse and the world.

Stop To Think OR Stop Thinking

Thinker

The Thinker.

It’s very important to have time (and space) to sit down and think.

Not just go through life in the motions–“doing”–because that’s the way we always did it or that’s the way your parents did it, or that’s what your teachers or society told you to do.

Thinking means we evaluate and assess what we are doing.  Are we going in the right direction?  Are we happy with ourselves?  Are we good people doing good things?  Are there things that we regret and need to learn from and/or course correct. Can we do better and what does better mean?

I remember at a certain point in my life working very hard, but also feeling like I was in a fugue–and when I “awoke” I couldn’t figure out where the time went to and why I had been sort of numb for a time. Were some things perhaps too raw or painful to deal with (better to shut them off somewhere in a little box) or was I just moving so fast and so hard that I just lost sight of my surroundings and the meaning or lack from it all.

But then I started to feel and think again. And I knew it because it was like an monumental awakening from a long hibernation through eons of time and space. What precipitated it all, I don’t really know. But when it started coming back–memories, feelings, some satisfactions, too many regrets–I knew that I had been gone a while and wasn’t sure exactly where I’d been.

So need to regularly stop and “smell the coffee”–think and feel–not just do like a real dummy or stubborn a*s.

The dilemma with thinking is too much or too little is that it can be a dangerous thing.

Too much time to ponder and you can become lost in thought or mired in analysis paralysis. Don’t bother me, I’m still thinking about it. Or perhaps, your thinking can be “all wrong” and messed up–your misunderstanding, misconstruing, not thinking clearly or brainwashed by others–maybe those with good intentions who want you to be like them, who think they know better, who mean well but are misguided when it comes to YOU or are engulfed by their own zealousness, self-righteousness or are even jerks trying to f*ck with you.

Also, while ample time to think can leave you revitalized, with new direction, commitment, and enthusiasm, the flip side is you can become demoralized or depressed by “it all,” It’s too much, it’s too hard, it’s too meaningless, or even it’s too overwhelming important and meaningful.

Then there is too little thinking going on in that head of yours, and you are a dumb, numb robot who washes, rinses, repeats…not knowing why they are doing it or maybe even that they are doing anything, just that they are in a state of being. It easy maybe to turn off to the world, to keep running on the treadmill of life, get up and do the same routine day-in and day-out.  Not questioning.  Not feeling.  Not getting hurt or dealing with issues better left for another day. But that’s not living. That’s a life of a sick roaming flesh-eating zombie. Someone just stick that iron rod through that useless skull already.

Think and live…live and think…go forward as in a directed, meaningful way, and not as the walking dead in pain and sorrow or lost in the abyss of lifelessness. 😉
