Bringing Down The House

I love this silver sculpture of Samson.

And one of my favorite stories and Biblical characters.

Samson was dedicated to G-d from birth and was an enormous warrior.

Even when he was betrayed, blinded, and bound, he maintained his ultimate faith in G-d.

He prayed that he be given the strength one more time to bring justice to G-d’s enemies.

And that’s when he pushed against the pillars and brought the house down on them.

On one hand, a tragic figure that trusted and was fooled by the beautiful Delilah, but a completely heroic man of great integrity, who believed in G-d and in vanquishing his enemies.

Look to the Heavens for your strength and G-d can grant you the ultimate strength to achieve your mission in life and even in death. 😉

My Alter Fighting Ego

Rocky

“His who life was a million to one shot.”

He fought, he survived, and he triumphed.

Go Rocky, Rambo, Sylvester Stallone.

Human rights, social justice, good over evil.

And never again! 🙂

Even If You Can’t Get To The Beach

Puzzle
During the big snow storm this week, what better to do then to cozy up with a nice 500 piece puzzle set of an Island Beach (and dream of being there–somewhere warm and fun).

The challenge with this puzzle was in differentiating the oodles of pieces making up the blue sky from those of the blue water.

Similarly, with all the green pieces for the palm trees and all the white ones for the sand.

It seemed as if all the pieces were just shades of similar colors, and hard to differentiate between them.

But my daughter is so smart and determined.

First, she strategically separated out the pieces with the edges and put the whole frame together.

Then, she organized the rest of the pieces by their associated colors, so sky blue pieces would be in one pile and distinct from ocean blue pieces in another one and so on.

As you can see, all that’s left is to finish off the sky, and it’s done.

I was able to find a few pieces, but I’m better laying at the beach, then putting one together.

Just two more weeks to Spring…thank you G-d. 😉

Making The Transition

Making The Transition

Came out of the hospital yesterday.

Able to walk with a walker–thankful for this miracle already.

Thanks to good ‘ol technology, I was able to send my surgeon a photo from my smartphone this morning, so he could see for himself what was going on and advise me.

Later today, having nursing and physical therapy to the house and am glad to have yet another set of eyes on me, while I heal up.

Emotionally, it’s trying.

I am a very active and structured person, and for now I am just physically limited–no getting around it.

As I push myself to walk, I can see my body pushing back to give it more time.

Overall, I am determined to get back to myself with G-d’s merciful help.

I’ve already logged onto work–telework–and been in touch with my team trying to keep things moving forward.

I’m also here, on the blogosphere, sharing my experience.

While in the hospital orthopedic unit, I got to meet many others with similar or even worse situations.

One guy had a knee replacement in January and was already back and had his hip done.

Another, I was told had one hip done, followed about 2 weeks later, by the other one.

All sorts of amazing stories of people fighting to recover and get back on their feet, literally.

One more time, I just want to say how my wife has been amazing through all of this, and I can’t thank her enough.

And truly, as my parents told me, “If you have your health, you have everything!”
