Fortune Cookie Generator

Ok, this is a most interesting fortune cookie:

“If your cookie still in one piece, buy lotto.”

Hmm, what cookie is this referring to?  And why should I buy lotto?

So I start to think that this is likely a computer-generated garbage fortune–i.e. the artificial intelligence makes no f*ckin sense!

Anyway, you will be fascinated to know that the modern fortune cookie with the paper fortune inside the hollow of the cookie was invented in California.

However, the Japanese put something like this in the bend of the cookie already in the 19th century.

Using this fortune as an example, I have this gnawing feeling that the Japanese fortunes had a lot more intellectual substance to them.

Anyway, someone tell this lame cookie fortune teller that Lotto is way out and Powerball is in and where the real winnings are. 😉

When People Fear You, You’re Not A Leader

As the fortune cookie I came across yesterday says:

“Leadership is action, not position.”

And actions demonstrate a good or evil heart.

When everyone hates a leader is that a “leader?”

– Fear is not leadership.

– Bullying is not leadership.

– Corruption is not leadership.

Leadership is:

– Showing others what is right and being a good influence.

– Rolling up your sleeves and doing the hard work alongside everyone else.

– Helping others to achieve their potential.

– When others see you as a leader based on your integrity of purpose and actions.

How we treat others is as true a test of leadership as of where we want to go and how we want to get there.

G-d sees everything man (leader or not) does, and only He in Heaven is the Leader of Leaders and the King of Kings.  😉

The Calorie Count Cookie

Fortune Cookie Calories
So we were out with family at a vegetarian Chinese restaurant.

And at the end of the meal, of course there were fortune cookies to be had.

As someone opened the cookie, and was about to plop it in her mouth, she said, “Ah, there goes another 100 calories!”

Then I thought for a moment, and said, “wouldn’t it be great (for those of us watching our weight), if every food had an edible embedded chip and display that would flash the calorie count as you picked it up and were about to put it in your mouth.

Rather than those esoteric calorie counts on the side of packages for G-d knows what serving sizes, you get a play-by-play count every time you reach, pick up, and are about to ingest the next big gulp.

I think having calorie counts tied to real portions and having these in your face in real time as you are eating could have a huge impact on portion size and weight control.

It may not be sexy to see the calories in your face as you eat, but boy could it be healthy. 😉
