I Say Upside Down You Turn Me

I liked this advertisement for WOOW eyewear.

Like the faces, the colors, the upside down and right-side up orientations.

Seems cool, hip, with it.

Happy hippie times. 😉

Fire Stripes on Buggy

Thought this VW with the fire stripes was pretty cool.

Black, white, and red.

Definitely a standout!

The only thing better is the VW van with the psychedelic hippie colors and fantastical images for hope and love.  😉

Pet Rock 2018

So when I saw this colored rock last evening, it made me think two things:

One, cool idea, looks nice and fun to make.

Two, it reminded me of the Pet Rocks in the 1970s that made millions (this one was hippie even though those back then weren’t actually even colored).

A business guy came up with the idea to sell smooth rocks from Mexico beach and market them as pets.

Yeah, they are so lovable and easy to care for!

It was one of the great branding and marketing events of the 20th century.

Who would think people would actually spend money on a plain dumb rock that you could basically pick up off the street?

But incredibly, putting the rock in a box with holes (so the rock could breath) and sitting it on a little stack of hay with an joke of instruction book for caring for your rock, SOLD.

And in fact, over 1,500,000 rocks were sold at a pop of $4 each.

The guy became a millionaire and got rid of a truckload of worthless rocks.

Yes, “One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure!”

But surely this was getting a little ridiculous.

Hey, I’ll give you a nickle for the shinny painted rock in the photo here. 😉

Best Bag 2016

best-bag-jpeg

Just wanted to share this photo of this great bag that I saw on the street in Downtown, DC.

While it wasn’t the largest or most functional…

I really liked the design, colors, and all the pockets.

A little military looking, contrasted by the rips, peace sign, and swirl made it even cooler.

For some reason, I don’t think you can get away with wearing it to the office though. 😉

Love My Lava Lamp

Lava Lamp

We couldn’t resist getting this lava lamp.

Only $26 at Spencer’s.

My wife says, “This is special!”

We had one of these years ago when we first got married.

Not sure what happened to it over the years–maybe it felt dated and got tossed at some point.

Now it just feels so good to turn it on and see the colorful lava bubbling up and down.

1970’s–don’t care, love it. 😉

Hippie Bus Menorah

Hippie Bus Menorah
I took this photo today of a Menorah made on the top of a VW Bus.

Inside, the bus still had the seats, and outside it had these cute Hippie flower pedals.

It was unique, fun, colorful, nostalgic and it rolls.

Plus you can fulfill the commandment (mitzvah) of lighting candles at Chanukah time.

What a novel piece of Judaica–love it! 😉

Try That On!

Fitting Room
So we took my daughter to the Free People boutique store at the Mall.

That brand has such a cool clothing style (although a little pricey)–everything is sort of hippyish, natural, eloquent, cool grunge, and feminine with lace, beads, frills, ruffles, and more.

As we went through the store, we noticed the amazing fitting rooms with heavy tapestry-type curtains and these beautiful flowers hanging plentifully from the ceiling–ushering you to try out their clothes.

My daughter ended up getting a nice bag there, but the clothing also looks amazing and fits perfectly with her fashion sense.

It was interesting for me to learn that Free People was started by the same couple in the 1970’s that founded Urban Outfitters.

Two retail success stories–but Free People is not only the cooler name, but the better clothing line.

Be Free People!  😉
