Anything Is Possible

So you’re all aware of the 3 legs of project management:

– Cost

– Schedule

– Scope

I remember learning the adage that if you change any one of these then there is an impact on the others.

For example, if you “crash” the timeline on a project to finish more quickly, then you either need more money or you need to reduce the scope.

Similarly, if you want to cut costs on the project then you may have to extend the timeline or scale back on the requirements.

Recently, I heard someone says the following:

“We can do anything with enough time and resources.”

And when I thought about this, it’s true enough.

If you provide more money and time for a project then, of course, you can do more in terms of the scope of the project.

Pour enough bucks and time into something and conceptually, we really can do anything.

Technically, we can do the proverbial “anything,” but that’s only if the politics and infighting don’t get in the way of  progress. 😉

Derangement of Conscience

Charlottesvile.jpeg

Watching the Neo-Nazis and white supremacists march in Charlottesville, VA yesterday made me sick.

They represent the worst of what human beings have to offer–hate, bigotry, and violence.

The event was culminated when a car driven by one of these hate-mongers apparently intentionally slammed into a crowd of anti-protester and killed a 32-year old woman  and injured 19 others–what a sick, sick soul!

This miserable event just 2 days shy of 2-months from when Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA) and 4 others were shot at a baseball field in Alexandria, VA by another nut job from the alt-left.

Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) said it right when he stated on national TV last evening:

“The hate and division must stop, and it must stop right now.”

But as we face large, looming enemies on the international scene — like dangerous Axis of Evil, North Korea and Iran — with weapons of mass destruction aimed at our shores and cities, all we can do is hate and fight internally.

What is wrong with this country now — when so many seem to have abandoned personal integrity and national unity — and shoot verbally and physically at each other instead of at the real enemies that seek to lay waste to our beloved homeland of the free and the brave?

Soon the missiles will reign down and the hate will smelter in the derangement of conscience.

The REAL Problem Is NOT Healthcare

Healthcare.jpeg

Why can’t all the really smart people in this country solve the healthcare crisis?

The democrats tried and it didn’t work out to well.

And now the republicans are trying and sort of the same thing so far.

Is it politics?

Sure, that is what it can easily look like.

One side wants to give more to these folks and less to someone else, and the other side vice versa.

But I don’t think that is the truth!

Wouldn’t we all like to give health coverage to every single man, woman, and child in this country!

Seriously…doesn’t everyone have a heart and soul somewhere in there.

And we all know and/or fear what it’s like to be at risk, without proper coverage, and without the medical care and medicine that can be lifesaving!

So here’s the real problem folks:

It’s not healthcare, nor any of the other social or national security issues we face–whether the military, space exploration, environmental concerns, jobs, or anything else.

This is what it is…

It’s called the national debt, which stands art $20,000,000,000,000

And that doesn’t even include ANOTHER 127,000,0000,000,000 of unfunded liabilities for things like social security and medicare etc.

This is a nation that collectively doesn’t save–it spends–and it spends not only it’s current purse, but it’s future one too!

In fact, total U.S Household wealth in aggregate of $90,000,000,000 is eclipsed by our overall national debt!

True, this doesn’t include trillions of dollars of other significant business or national assets, but it does point to the overall severity of our highly-leveraged financial position.

So where does this leave us?

We can’t really solve healthcare or any of our other problems–if we are BROKE, busted, and a debtor nation.

Yes, it takes money to invest, and money to pay for solutions for now and for the future.

But how can you possibly solve anything, if your pockets are not only empty but have a big f*ckin’ hole in them.

So folks, the lousy decisions of the past and present are coming back to haunt us.

It’s a tidal wave, a tsunami of debt–of unbelievable corruption and kicking the can down the road–of fraud, waste, and abuse–of shortsightedness and lack of real leadership–and the time is coming to pay the piper!

If you think the political infighting–liberal and conservatives–tea party and progressives–alt left and alt right–socialists and dictators–is bad now?

But unfortunately, unsolvable problems lead to accusations and recriminations–finger-pointing all around–calls for impeachment–calls to let the other party or some independent lead us out of this mess.

Do you think being in such a challenging situation could also lead us to make rash and stupid mistakes or even go to war?

In the end, how do you lead us out of a dead-end caused by generations of recklessness with our country’s finances?

Some say perhaps we can grow ourselves out of the debt–maybe we need to go back to school and all get our MBAs and start the whole messed up story all over again?

America The Polarized

So on one hand, in American politics today you have this–Make America Great Again.

And those who support Trump and change.

On the other side, you have those that oppose and resist.

And those that blame and wash their hands from the dirty politics.

And many that think that the worst in politics already happened.

But our problems are large and eating this nation up alive–from Iran and North Korea to Jobs, Healthcare, Immigration, and more.

Our social safety net is fraying under a frightening and mounting national debt, and our national security needs are growing amid an endless array of real doomsday threats from WMD, EMPs, and Cyber Attacks.

What will it be America–blame, ridicule, resist, endless fighting or work to help and not hate. 😉

Left and Right Unite

Eagle.jpeg

So I saw on Facebook, an image of an old, wise, Native American Indian.

And over the image, it reads:

“The left wing and the right wing belong to the same bird.”

That is pretty darn smart–and one of the best things I heard all week!

To many extremist people out there, they seem to have been forgetting this lately.

Also, the agitators don’t seem to let up–does it matter if it’s conspiracy theories or fake news–if it gets the bird in the net for clip-clip.

In an effort to “resist”–or perhaps utterly destroy the opposition–we have put politics above the National interest.

Yes, politics matter–issues matter–people matter.

But can the bird fly with only one wing?

Sure, we need to speak up when we see something wrong or that we don’t agree with.

But we also need to discuss, negotiate, and compromise–for Pete’s sake, work together to make the bird stronger and fly further and faster–rather than kill the bird itself.

Our competitors and enemies have arrows pointed at and are shooting them at our American Eagle.

Will we give them the advantage as we self-destruct with loathing for one another? 😉

Duck The Bullet

Firing Squad.jpeg

So I learned that there are at least 2 things to be mindful of when it comes to a firing squad:

1. Never get between a man and his firing squad — sometimes, the judgment has already been passed, the victim blindfolded and tied, the trigger(s) already pulled back and the victim is too far gone to save.  Don’t step in front of the bullet!

2. When it is a circular firing squad, rise above it! — when people are engaged in self-destructive, internal disputes, recriminations, and taking pot shots at each other,  you need to either duck or rise above the fray and be the bigger man/woman.

Shooting the messenger, the interventionist, or each other just leaves a lot of spilt blood.

Save yourself and stay focused and determined to fight for the issue, when others are simply determined to take someone out back and put the bullet through their head. 😉

The FBI Chief Goes Kerplunk

Thunk.jpeg

Who would’ve thunk it…the FBI chief goes kerplunk.

James Comey–only 37% through his tenure as Director–is fired for the (mis)handling of the Hillary Clinton email fiasco.

But Hillary never even saw justice.

The politics in Washington is forever an ironic cliffhanger.

The democrats who were supposedly aggrieved by Comey in the election are now screaming foul for his dismissal

And the republicans who supposedly benefited by Comey closing and opening of the case against Clinton are signing praises for his release.

Nothing is ever as it seems.

Aliens could be falling from the sky and it would still be a political event.

Washington conspiracy and counter-conspiracy theories…but the work of the people does it ever get done?  😉

A Sexless Generation

Sexless.jpeg

Oy vey, the statistics are not good.

Sex in America is on the decline (and no, this is not an April fools’ joke)!

Based on this who can argue with President Trump that we need to “Make America Great Again”–and that should include sexual vitality along with military might, economic competitiveness, and social justice.

In the early 1990 and 2000’s , Americans had sex on average about 60 to 65 times a year.

Moreover, for married couples, who are at the high end of the sexual spectrum, this is down from 67 in 1989 to just 56 times a year now.

This is a reduction of 9 , which doesn’t sound like much–however that actually comes to 14% less nookie!

And geez, that’s less than once a week! 😦

What’s weird is that the statistics show that Americans working longer hours and watching more pornography actually is tied to a “busier sex life.”

To me the obvious answer is that people are living too much in a virtual world of loneliness and nothingness.

And they have lost touch with each other in the real world and have become more selfish and less giving personally and sexually.

So while some people are busy infighting and infatuated with reading and generating all the fake news these days, it seems like they are missing the real disheartening and unloving American news of the times. 😉

Taking It Back

Taking It Back.jpeg

So I was watching Baahubali, the highest grossing movie in India, ever.

Enjoyed the Bollywood action and pageantry and am looking forward to the sequel coming out this week.

There was one line in the movie, spoken between swordsmen that stood out to me:

“Spoken words and spilled blood can never be taken back.”

Mean and harsh word can cut like a knife and hurting someone with words or deeds, can never really be taken back.

Sure, we can ask for forgiveness and try to make amends.

But it’s like once you let the genie out the bottle, you can never really put her and keep her back in.

A veteran recently fought to have a VA hospital in Florida put the picture of the President up instead of the blank frame on the wall they had (some nonsensical notion of resistance indicating “not my president”)–the veteran said about trying to right this wrong:

“It’s like trying to put 5 pounds of baloney back in a bag that only holds 2 pounds.”

People are doing bad things and saying bad these things these days that can’t be just taken back.

Family, friends, and colleagues–are fighting it out and splitting up.

Each side tells themselves and the other that their cause is right and noble.

But how much of it is really just brainwashing, hyperbole, and politicking?

While our values as individuals and as a nation should never be put at stake, maybe we could get more done and better by working together than spilling blood–friend and friend, neighbor and neighbor. 😉

A Nation Conquered By Politics

La La La.jpeg

So Obamacare is failing with rates spiraling up out of control and choices narrowing for people that need good affordable healthcare.

And the Ryancare replacement plan failed to garner enough votes and has been questioned by the alt-right as not going further enough to change things for the better.

Blame the parliamentarian, blame each other, blame the Russians.

Between the two sides of the aisle, there aren’t enough centrists, and the parties won’t work together on a solution to this or anything else apparently–hence the utter catastrophic deadlock and lack of progress in Washington going on for years now!

The democrats passed Obamacare along party lines without a single Republican.

And now Ryancare similarly had not a single Democrat.

Resistance.  Resistance.  Resistance!

This is how polarized and ineffective our system of governing has become, when the two sides love their position and power more than they love the people of this great nation!

The Russians, Chinese, North Koreans, and Iranians didn’t have to fire a single shot…they just continued to shame our ineffectiveness with bogus deals and aggressive posturing, fed us boatloads  of misinformation (“fake news”) to agitate our already divided country, and then they left us to split asunder under of our democracy’s own weight.

As the Republicans point fingers and the Democrats gloat–there is a great refrain of La La La Koosh Koosh going on–and the Superpower U.S. is looking not only asleep, but also fat, stupid and sprawled out pathetic with no where to go but up from here. 😉
