Defunding The Police Is STUPID!

So the progressive, alt-left have gone off the rails again with more nutty radical proposals.

This time to defund or dismantle the police!

While I am completely against corruption, racism, and police brutality, it is a BIG and STUPID mistake to hyper-generalize from some bad actors to the overwhelming number of good people that serve in law enforcement, who put their lives on the line to protect us everyday.

As with the health workers that protect us from Coronavirus and other horrible illnesses, so too with our police, we should be grateful for their protection and that they ensure some semblance of law and order and security in our society!

Yes the bad apples should be weeded out and punished, absolutely!

Also, after the latest incident with George Floyd, certainly reform is needed in terms of training and additional protections for the public.

But going alt-left crazy with proposals to defund and disband the police is completely over-the-top, irresponsible and destructive.

Hopefully, all the “normal” people out there will see the progressive folly for what it is and support the police in doing their critical mission, while also holding them accountable to do it with the integrity that they must.  😉

Predicted It Right In 2017

This was such a funny photo I found of me from 2017.

Holding a book called The End of The F*cking World.

Little did we know back then Coronavirus was coming our way.

One thing that is amazing to me is the incredible lack of responsibility when it comes to our fiscal (tax rates and spending) and monetary policy (interest rates and money supply).

For example, we’ve spent almost $3,000,000,000,000 (i.e. trillion) on Coronavirus Relief/Recovery.

And there is another package in the works to borrow and spend more money.

This on top of our already tens of trillions of dollars of national debt we already accumulated.

The crazy thing is that this is going on globally with Europe and Japan and others borrowing and spending without any sanity as well.

Now here is the BIG QUESTION for you all:

If everyone is borrowing and spending, who are they borrowing from???

Yep, this is called funny money!

Because it’s not possible for everyone to be borrowing and carrying a bottom line net debt at the same time.

The money has to come from somewhere doesn’t it?

The Federal Reserve is “injecting” trillions into the economy and their balance sheet of “loans” to us is going up towards $11 trillion dollars now.

These injections are short term medicine that may kill the patient down the road by overdose!

Have you ever heard of a Chair of the Federal Reserve that “urges policy makers to spend more“?

Simple economics tells us that this will yield at some point an unbelievable inflation.

We are injecting or “printing” more and more money (or electronic bytes of it), and that causes the money to devalue because there is so much of it (supply side economics) with nothing but hot air backing it up (we haven’t been on the gold standard since 1971).

There is a DAY OF RECKONING coming when:

– People’s savings and wallets will devalue and money will be worth close to squat after RUNWAY INFLATION.

– Also, what do you think will happen to the stock market and jobs too when people have only loads of valueless funny money and can’t buy anymore like they used too–can anyone say MARKET CRASH and UNEMPLOYMENT!

Folks, you heard it here first, the end of the f*cking world is coming–it’s called CONSEQUENCES, plain and simple. 😉

Reopening The Country WITHOUT Endangering The Masses

I understand the absolute need to reopen the country from this Coronavirus.

We can’t shelter in place forever and watch our economy go into the toilet and our national debt bankrupt us!

Therefore, once we have the mechanisms to control the deadly spread, we must open up offices and stores again gradually to get people working and our economy going again.

At the same time, I am pissed by those corporate executives that actually have the chutzpah and are pushing for us to open up crowded theaters, stadiums, and other such entertainment or other venues that are NOT critical and pose a greater risk for contagion to masses of people.

Instead of these CEOs understanding the need to hold off on this pending a vaccination or adequate disease control measures, these greedy corporate chieftain seem to care little to nothing about the health of their customers, and only about lining their fat pocketbooks with more ticket sales.

I think it’s criminal type behavior to push our government to open prematurely and irresponsibly those venues that are of greatest risk to potentially millions of people to get sick or dead in order for them to profit from it!  😉

Note: It’s reported that COVID-19 compared to the flu in 22 fewer days infected 11x as many people and killed 60 times as many

Handbag All Alone

Handbag BW
I took this photo of this neglected bag in Starbucks today.

Someone just left their handbag on a chair and went off to line up for coffee with their significant others.

I’m not sure they needed to save the table given that the place was fairly empty this morning.

However, it did strike me that this bag was all alone, far from pretty much anyone, and no one was watching it!

Also, not only was this handbag left unattended, it was also completely open at the top, sort of inviting double trouble.

As you can see, no one else seems to be paying much attention…so if someone wanted, I think this large, full handbag could’ve been a crime statistic in a moment.

Trust is nice, but this handbag is crying out for company. 😉

Two Lost Children

Children

Often we hear about lost children with everything from Amber Alerts to our phones and billboards to advertisements on local TV and even on milk cartons–and it is completely frightening.

Rarely though do we come into contact with lost children…but yesterday it happened to us.

We were taking a nice quiet walk around the neighborhood, but something was different this time.

I see 2 children running down the block, and as they get closer, I see they are not playing, but running scared.

The taller, older girl is ahead of a smaller boy.

As the girl is within speaking distance, her whole face breaks into tears and she starts sobbing loudly.

Not knowing if they were in some imminent danger, I asked quickly what was wrong and were they in danger.

By now the little boy has caught up with his sister and they–taking turns–saying they are lost.

We start asking more questions.

Are you from around here?  No, they are visiting from NY.

What is the address of where they are staying?  Don’t know.

What the name of the people they are staying at?  Don’t know.

Where are their parents?  Don’t know–they told them to go out and run around the (strange) neighborhood.

How old are they? The girl is 7 and the boy is just 4.

We told these 2 little kids not to worry that we would help them find their way back and that we wouldn’t leave them until we did.

Immediately, we headed back from where they had come from to backtrack and find their parents.

The boy and girl took turns running ahead, crying, afraid they were not going to find the house they came from and saying the streets here are so curvy unlike the square blocks where they are from in NY.

As we kept going around, I started to get leg pain, as I am still on a cane myself from recent surgery, and we were rushing to find their home in the midday Summer sun.

We made it down a long block, looking this way and that with the kids–turned the corner…then again the same thing…down another block…although we try to calm them, as we kept going, the kids get more panicky that they were just completely lost.

Finally, thank G-d, a lady in the distance…the kids start running…they recognize her immediately…it’s their mother.

The lady sees us behind them bringing them home to her…she picks up the little girl who makes it to her first…so glad to have her kids back.

She waves to us…a quick sort of thanks–and turns and walks away.

That was it…she didn’t say a word and was gone before we even caught up.

The kids were really sweet–and were also fortunate–and I hope they are okay and never have to experience anything like that again.

When Free Speech Goes Afoul

Fire_theater

Freedom of speech is one of our most precious rights.

However, there are limits – times when the right to speak and publish comes up against the principle that one should not cause harm to others
The famous example is that you cannot falsely cry, “Fire!” in a crowded theater
Free speech–yes; harm to others–no.
This week (11-17, July 2011), a BusinessWeek article called “Set Them Free”  exemplifies what can happen when free speech goes too far.
The article is an argument in favor of illegal immigration.
The author’s thesis is stated in the form of a rhetorical question: “Laws against illegal immigration make little economic or moral sense. So why punish the brave citizen who break them?”
Certainly, I am sympathetic to newcomers to our land. I come from a family of immigrants, like so many American citizens, and I value the opportunities and freedom this country has provided to me and my family.
However, in this article, the author openly promotes breaking the law. He supports “illegal” immigration and calls for others to facilitate it.
One can argue about economics and morality of immigration policy, but from my perspective, obviously, no country can have fully open borders. Logically, this helps to ensure safety, security, and social order. Coming up on the 10-year “anniversary” of the events of 9/11, this is a no-brainer.
I therefore have trouble believing that Bloomberg would publish an article essentially calling for an end to border security. Any arguments regarding economic benefit do not detract from the clear negative implications for national security. (Note: all opinions my own.)
Not only does the article ignore this point, but it brazenly calls the laws against illegal immigration “immoral.”
The author stretches the limits of free speech beyond the breaking point in my view when he recklessly states“When a law itself prohibits doing the right thing, when it is immoral rather than just annoying or inconvenient, and when breaking the law does no great harm to any others, it is justifiable for people of conscience to chose to break that law.”
He literally states that illegal immigration is “the right thing (!)”
How can a mainstream media source publish such extremist rhetoric, even going so far as to compare the U.S. laws to apartheid: “Current, U.S. immigration laws have all the moral standing of pass laws in apartheid South Africa.”
In addition to teaching us that free speech can be misused to spread extremism, hatred, lies, promote civil disobedience, and enable chaos, there are some other unfortunate lessons here.
The first is that one must think critically about what one reads, even if it is in a supposedly “mass media” publication. For immigration is a blessing and a privilege, but not an entitlement. Nobody has the right to enter another country’s borders at will, without restriction.
Second, and more troubling, extremist thinking clearly continues to flourish not only outside our borders, but from fanatics within.
While I agree that we should always be moral, help those in need, and make good economic decisions, this does not negate the importance of maintaining security and social order. Further, it is irresponsible at the very least to promote breaking the law, and offensive to compare illegal immigration as an issue of economic exploitation to the drastic human rights abuses of apartheid South Africa.
