Face Vase

Thought this was a pretty cool Face Vase.

If you add a digital home assistant to this (like Amazon Echo or Google Assistant) and make the lips move on this vase, it would be quite the futuristic home assistant!

I don’t think I’d feel comfortable living in my own house anymore. 😉

Shame As An Effective Motivator

This last week protesters against Justice Kavanaugh came up against Senator Manchin (D. WV) in a head on confrontation.

He was being interviewed by the media.

But the protesters drowned him out with chants of “Shame” and “Shame on you!”

Similar to the series Game Of Thrones, where the evil Queen Cersis must “Take the walk of shame” for sleeping with and having a child with her own brother.

She must walk through the city with all the people yelling “Shame” at her, spitting on her, throwing rotten vegetables at her, etc.

There is no place to hide.

Her hair has been shorn off.

Her clothes have been stripped from her.

Without her clothes and pretense, she is naked, but she is also naked because her soul is bearing her sin before everybody.

This week life imitated art and the protesters stood in judgment over Senator Manchin’s decision to vote yes for and support Kavanaugh.

He was surrounded by shame.

It was not meant to be politic, respectful, or open any sort of dialogue, but simply to tear the Senator down and humiliate him for his decision.

I could imagine how he must feel being surrounded by all these people telling him he was a disgrace and that should be completely ashamed of himself.

There seemed no one left to strand up for him, defend him, and let him save face.

I am not saying his decision was right or wrong, just that when seemingly everybody passes judgment on you as evil and a disgrace, there is no where to hide or anyone to defend himself in this mob lynching.

I imagine that this feeling of shame is sort of what happens when we die and we must face everyone we dealt favorably and unfavorably with.

For those who we wronged, the chant of shame echoes through G-d’s heavenly court.

There is no place to hide as we must now pay the piper for each and every thing we did or didn’t do.

Our deeds are no longer hidden, but exposed for everyone to see.

We cannot pretend to be good when we were not.

The veil and pretense of righteousness disintegrates.

We are exposed for who we really are.

Our true selves and our sins are there in full sight and for which we must bear out our ultimate shame. 😉

What’s The Big Fascination?

From Victoria’s Secret to colorful art renditions, medieval metal, and cross-dressing on the neighborhood corner…

This does not seem to be about being angels, unchaste, or even “sexy-wexy “(as I think my mother-in-law calls it).

So I really have to ask what is all the fascination about here?

Culturally, we seem to be a little OCD.

If Martians visited us, I don’t think they would understand us at all.

Frankly, I’m not sure that I do either!  😉

Shower Us With Peace

Oh L-rd, we pray that you shower your people with an abundant and complete peace.

A peace of mind, spirit, and body.

A peace that permeates every aspect of our being and knows no limits to time and space.

May You grant us a complete saving and healing.

As threats loom large on the horizon, we look to the Heavens to ask for your merciful saving grace.

Enemies rise against us, and only you can reach down and lift us up.

We stand in your presence, naked and humbled.

As the winds blow and clouds gather, only you can protect and save.

While some men look arrogantly at their own strength and smarts, these are nothing to the Master of the Universe.

G-d uproots the wicked and plants his faithful children in their stead.

Peace is the ultimate blessing, and only G-d can grant it. 😉

Naked Sitting

Naked Sitting.jpeg

This was some amazing sculpture at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C.

This “Big Man” is just sitting in the corner at the top of the escalator.

Sitting naked and looking deep in thought and down on his luck.

In a sense, as we sit or stand in front of our Maker, we are all naked bearing witness to our transgressions and trespasses.

What are we to do when we give in to weakness?

We see people looking around and hoping no one is seeing them as they try to get away with doing the wrong thing.

But as my Oma (grandmother) used to say in German to me:

“Liebe Gott sieht alles”

Almighty G-d sees everything!

Our souls, and the souls of those that came before us, and those that will come after us, are all around us, without limitation to time or space.

Our nakedness is revealed no matter what we use to try to cover up with.

Hunched in the corner, we don’t really know what to do, but to try to do better with each and every next time.

We have opportunities to right the wrongs, if we get up and exert self control and overcome our mortal and character weaknesses.

Then our nakedness won’t be foul in sight and smell, but will be radiant, with our spirits having risen to the occasion of what we can be as the children of G-d. 😉

Clothing Optional

Empress Has No Clothes.jpeg

This was a funny painting in the gallery.

A naked lady with a big colorful sun hat on.

Be careful you don’t want to get too much sun!

The painting also makes me think of the saying “The empress (or emperor) has no clothes.”

The leader thinks they are wearing beautiful clothes, but the reality is they are naked in front of their subjects.

People see when their leaders are shelling out a clouded vision, tempting them with empty (campaign) promises, or pushing ideas that don’t hold water in the real world, but often people are simply too afraid to say anything.

Instead, they acknowledge the beautiful clothes or brilliant ideas that aren’t there and in groupthink fashion, they fail to call out the folly for what it is, when it is.

Naked is naked, and we should say the truth albeit with respect and in a constructive way, if we really want to make genuine collective progress.

True–lauding or blinding following what simply isn’t there and has no substance may land you a seat at the royal table, but what good is it, if you are sitting with some leaders that may be nothing more than naked idiots. 😉

Shopping At CVS Florida Style

CVS Florida

So I am posting this with permission of my wife.

This is how people walk around in CVS in Florida.

This is not how people dress in CVS in Washington D.C. even on the hottest August days.

It is really weird how people seemingly change their entire conception of appropriate and modest dress (code) just because they can.

I remember when at least people coming off the beach would put on a wrap or towel or something.

Uh, not anymore–the feeling of freedom has been extended quite some to the point of this becoming all too blase.

Maybe this is similar to the trend of some women in Times Square in New York who are going around topless with nothing but some paint even though there are families with children that frequent that touristy area.

Perhaps it would be nice to leave a little mystery for everyone involved. 😉
