Holiday Earrings With Pizazz

These holiday earrings have loads of pizazz.

Watch them flash red from ear to ear!

The funny thing is no one else even notices.

What an awesome holiday fashion statement from The Nation’s Capital. 😉

Be Happy, Have Fun

Thought this was funny at work.

One person writes:

Be Happy. Have Fun.

Another chimes in:

Ok, I will!

And finally a 3rd person writes:

Me too.

Smiley faces and all.

Never take yourself too seriously.

It’s true–try to enjoy the ride!  😉

Is Beer A Color?

So thought this was an interestingly funny flip chart.

It’s titled “Colors”.

And it has the typical ones you’d expect: blue, red, green, yellow, orange, purple, black, white, grey, brown, and tan.

But thrown into the mix is beer (and Summer)–maybe these go together!

Perhaps, someone had a little too much beer when asked about colors.

On second thought, maybe beer is a color.  😉

Harassholes Y’all

Someone brought me a copy of this photo from their office.

It says:

Stop Harassholes Y’all

Not bad.

Harassment plus as*holes = Harassholes.

Thank G-d, there are some very good people and managers out there.

But unfortunately not everyone is, and so there are also some real stinkin’ abusers too.

These types of people should never be in power, since they misuse it!

They do not use the power they have been entrusted with to advance progress, and do good for the organization and its people, but rather they clumsily wield power for their own selfish, personal pleasures and vendettas–bullying and harassing others–and simply because they can.

Belittling others, making them feel stupid and worthless, and then going after them for whatever they want.

Through intimidation, they keep others from talking…shhh! hush!

Emotional, verbal, and even physical abuse can be common.

I remember one colleague telling me how their boss would literally throw things at them in their office while they had to sit there “taking it.”

Another has a boss that makes them do the stupidest, most trivial tasks–completely worthless stuff–just to prove a point…that they’re in charge.

Marginalization, threats, bullying, abuse, harassment…it goes on and it shouldn’t!

In some cases, the harassholes are even protected from someone above.

Money, power, honor…more, more, more!

But G-d sees these people too and eventually cuts the bad ones down to size.

My father used to say:

G-d does not let any tree grow into the heavens!

Eventually, I am pretty sure that harassholes end up getting some very BIG hemorrhoids or something from above that teaches them to use G-d’s gifts for the good, and to properly love, care, and empathize for other human beings–G-d’s children!

I never knew why hemorrhoids existed in this world, but there is a purpose to everything under the heavens. 😉

Alligator Govie

So this was a little surprising.

In the courtyard (next to the cafeteria) at work, there is a nice seating area open during the Spring/Summer seasons.

Pretty trees, flowers, and a pond.

In the pond, next to the water lilies, there was a what?

Alligator.

Not a full alligator.

But someone put an alligator’s head in to make things interesting.

It’s nice at work when people are normal and have a sense of humor.

An Alligator Govie that’s what it is. 😉

Solving Computer Problems

Funny T-Shirt on solving computer problems:

Does it work?

Did you screw with it?

Does anyone know?

Can you blame anyone else?

This little flowchart seems to capture so many issues in the office like:

– Accountability

– Problem-solving

– Doing the right thing

Oh, maybe that’s a different flowchart. 😉

This Is The IT Help Desk

This was a funny true story that happened recently.

Someone found a roach walking around their desk in the office.

Not knowing who to call…they call the (IT) Help Desk.

Hello. What is the asset number on the device you are calling about?

Asset Number! You don’t need my asset number.

Well, what is the nature of your problem?

I’ll tell you what my problem is. The problem is that I have a cockroach walking around on my desk!”

Ah, do you know that you are calling the IT!!! Help Desk?

Ah, yes I do. Can you give me the number for who to call about this roach?

Ah, you are calling the wrong number. Why don’t you try finding out who your facilities person is?

Facilities person! But you guys are the Help Desk! Can’t you tell me how to get help to get rid of this roach? And by the way–where there is one, there are definitely more.

Ah, We don’t typically handle roach problems, but thank you for calling the Help Desk. {{click}}

I know many organizations are moving to Enterprise Service Desks where you can call and get help for all sorts of issues at work.

Even then, I wonder if the employees answering the line will be trained in who to call to get a Roach Motel or some Raid.

Perhaps this is the next evolution of support.  😉

Who Is The Most Dangerous?

Recently, I started watching this show called “Billions.”

I’m in the middle of Season 2, and it is a brilliant and mesmerizing show that depicts the battle between the CEO of a Wall Street Hedge Fund and the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of NY.

Ands it is a true battle of wits, might, and it gets ugly in every way.

(I won’t spoil the show…)

But there is one line from the show that came out in the heat of an exchange between the two at the end of Season One that I wanted to share:

The only thing more dangerous than a person with unlimited resources is a person who has nothing to lose.

When you think about it, there is tremendous wisdom and truth in this, and a poignant lesson to be learned for every person, organization, and even nation of great power.

No matter how much money, people, and assets you may have to fight…

…if the other guy has nothing to lose and is willing to go do the unthinkable then we have a very big problem indeed.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

From those desperate and willing to act as suicide bombers to those that would actually push the button on a nuclear, biological, chemical, or radiological attack, there is no winning even if you are the last one left standing.

The other guy who feels he has already lost is willing to take you with him by any and all means.

Therefore, we cannot and should not ever think that the battle against evil is won, because even when the opponent appears in all respects to be defeated that may be when they become even more dangerous to us than ever.  😉

Colleagues That Care

I loved this from a colleague the other day.

When things got a little tough in the office, I came in the next day to 6 smiley faces lined up on my desk.

This is something that I really appreciate from some people:

Their HUMANITY.

Even though my colleague faced the same tough day, she was thoughtful of others and the impact on them (not herself).

There are some amazing people out there, and I thank G-d for putting them in my orbit. 😉

Monday Signs

Starting a new week…

Pick a sign for your desk:

– Good morning let the stress begin

– Step away from my desk and no one gets hurt

– I found your nose, it was in my business

– I’m pretty sure I have no idea

Which one would you pick?
