When Do We Get The Replicators

Good advertisement piece for a 3D Printing Class.

Not sure that we’re nearly there yet in terms of the Star Trek vision for the Replicators that could make food and other items on demand.

But things are slowly taking shape.

Someone wake me up when I can order up a pizza from this thing.  😉

On Taste And Smell

Just wanted to share this saying (translated from Hebrew) that I like:

On taste and smell, there is no argument.

What tastes or smells good or bad to one person versus another is not up for debate.

Each person has their own taste buds and odor senses.

Some people may be more or less sensitive to different tastes and smells.

So there is no arguing there.

You either like or you don’t like.

That’s your prerogative!

Don’t make a big stink about it. 😉

An Alarm Clock – My Gag Gift

So we had our holiday party today, and guess what I got?

Yes, a Sharp Twin Bell Alarm Clock!

Of course, with each gag gift came a mini-speech by some of the managers as why they choose this gift for you.

So of course, I am consistently the first one in every morning and the person who opens up for everyone else–reliable, dependable, and hard-working Andy! 🙂

Some of my other colleagues got a hula hoop, a toy toolkit, a mini teapot, a little school bus, coffee mugs with funny sayings, a rock and roll trophy, mini boxing gloves, stuffed pillows with smileys, and more.

Each came with its own unique story.

Pizza, beer, and bowling were part of the festivities.

It’s nice when people appreciate each other and can have some fun.

Thanks for the holiday party and the alarm clock.  😉

From Cocoa Trees To Honey Pizza

Had a chance to take in the United States Botanic Garden.

Loved going in the greenhouse.

The air was fresh and the flowers beautiful.

The 2nd to last photo is a cocoa tree, which I had never seen before.

It was incredible to me that those pods hold the amazing stuff that gives us chocolate.

G-d’s creations are so amazing.

Also, we went for dinner and my daughter had this amazing pizza with cheese, figs, spinach, and honey.

I couldn’t have the dough because of my Paleo diet, but I just tasted the toppings, and it was literally like heaven.

I was glad that the taste didn’t show up on the scale this morning.

To me the wonderment is how our senses can literally indulge in so many wonderful things almost like the Garden of Eden.

Thank you G-d for giving us life and the ability to enjoy your amazing creations. 😉

Pizza And Brew With Wonderful Friends

Pizza and Brew.jpeg

Yesterday, we had a beautiful little get together at our place.

In the party room with pizza and brew and lots of nosh–almost reminded me of the “Chometz Party” we had a number of years ago in our old neighborhood (great way to clean out your kitchen pantry before Passover),

Many of our wonderful friends from Magen David Sephardic Synagogue came to visit with us and celebrate one year plus in our new home in Maryland.

Truly some of the nicest and accepting people I’ve had a chance to come to know in quite some time.

I want to thank our friends for coming and especially thank my dear wife, Dossy, who did all the heavy lifting to make the event so beautiful for everyone.

One lesson was how to keep the pizza piping hot over many hours with people coming and going at different times–can anyone say melted cheese?

Another was how to schedule anything this time of year with Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Passover, Shavuot and Memorial Day holidays, Men’s Club/Sisterhood/and other community events, baby showers, weddings, vacations, and more–gee, there almost wasn’t a free Sunday on the calendar.

Overall though, we had such a nice time with everyone, and Dossy is already asking about planning the next event and she says she is cooking, so watch out world! 😉

Almost Started A Food Fight

Food
So something has gotten into me the last few days…

Tonight, motzei Shabbos, and we’re at the kosher Pizza store.

There is a table next to us with some semi-rowdy boys and girls.

We’re sitting there minding our own business–really–when all of a sudden I get a spit ball (yes, a spit ball) right in my ear.

I look over at the kids and this guy is opening a Toblerone chocolate and smirks and says, “Oh, sorry” and goes back to his friends laughing at what they did.

So my wife is eating her seasoned fries, and I pick up a long one at the end, and am holding it–and all of a sudden, i don’t know what happened, but the fry just flicks out of my hand and up into the air.

My wife and daughter and I just stare at each other…like OMG, you didn’t!

But I did and then a girl at the next table shrieks as the fry hits her in the head and she’s looking accusingly at the boys at her table asking, “Who did that?”

We’re still sitting sort of frozen staring at each other, holding in our laughter.

The store manager comes over to the kids and starts yelling at them about throwing fries around the store.

At which point, we couldn’t contain our reaction anymore and started cracking up.

I think the kids at the next table figured it out.

My daughter who thought these kids were so obnoxious goes to me, “That was so cool Dad!”

So what is going on with me lately…not sure, but I think I like it. 😉

Ketchup Face

Ketchup Face 2
We went to the Pizza place after Shabbat.

The family had a little fun with the ketchup.

I come from a creative bunch…whether with pastels, photography, Photoshop, writing, and even Ketchup.

Don’t worry it didn’t go to waste, the fries were right on the way! 🙂

No Soup For You!

No Soup For You
Remember the “Soup Nazi” in Seinfeld?

After some silly insulting encounter, the Soup Nazi refuses to give Jerry any soup saying in his deep accent, “No soup for you.”

Well, when I walked in the local pizza store and saw this sign on the counter, I couldn’t help but laugh a little.

It’s the real thing…and it says, “Sorry No Soups Tonight.”

And it’s sort of sloppily written on a guest check and placed in a Coca Cola holder.

I wasn’t too disappointed with the news though, since who gets the soup at a pizza joint anyway?  😉

Thirsty And Hungry

Moms Drink2
I took this photo today of this funny banner hanging out a thoroughfare window in Washington, D.C.

This big 6 feet banner says “Moms Drink For Free.”

So not sure, is it a special running at the local bar for the holidays or a wish by a bunch of mom’s looking to get toasted?

Now, look carefully to the right, and you can see in the next window the messaging continues and it says “+ Send 1 Pizza.”

So these “moms” are not only thirty but apparently hungry too–they want pizza and brew!

Not sure to what happened to “moms” just being normal mothers and good role models, and not hanging their menu cravings out the window in downtown. 😉

Want To Ride The Falafel Bus?

Falafel Bus
Falafel is a funny sounding food, but actually tastes pretty good.

The best that I’ve ever had was in Tel Aviv with spicy falafel balls, hot french fries, and loads of creamy Tehina stuffed in the pita.

Only thing better is with juicy grilled schwarma, right off the rotating fire spit, and hot sauce, and for that try Max’s in Silver Spring.

One of my friends used to joke about the guy with an accent selling falafel, but who used to ring out (what sounded like), “Pizza and Palapel!”

In terms of getting it from a curbside bus–only if it is hot and kosher. 😉
