Still Fighting For Our Rights

This picture about sums where we are in having to protest the same things we’ve been fighting for since the beginning of time:

I can not believe I still have to protest this crap!!

Just went you thought humanity (at least Western civilization) had mostly evolved past all the discrimination, biases, bigotry, prejudice, and racisms.

We arrive in time only to find out that HATE is still brewing in our societies and people’s evil hearts.

What a shame–that we misinterpret what divides us as taking precedence over what unites us!

What a pity–that we misjudge people by the color of their skin, their race, their religion, etc. instead of by the worthiness of their deeds.

What a disgrace–that we mistreat our fellow man simply because they are different from us and in the most superficial of ways.

With all our scientific advances and technological progress, we are still in stone ages of the evolution of our humanity.  😉

Spider Man D.C.

This so reminded me of…

Spider Man, Spider Man, Does Whatever A Spider Can.

Veterans Day must be a great day to get your windows washed.

Or to spin a web of intricate proportions in D.C. politics.

Either way aside from the windows, what of significance is actually getting resolved in our partisan capital?

When Do We Get The Replicators

Good advertisement piece for a 3D Printing Class.

Not sure that we’re nearly there yet in terms of the Star Trek vision for the Replicators that could make food and other items on demand.

But things are slowly taking shape.

Someone wake me up when I can order up a pizza from this thing.  😉

Interplanetary Travel – Coming Soon

Awesome presentation on Interplanetary Travel by Charlie Kuehmann, VP Materials Engineering at SpaceX and Tesla.

Interplanetary travel and colonization is one of the most exciting possibilities for mankind.

It’s all just beginning (we’ve only been in orbit for about 50 years).

One of the keys Charlie mentioned at SpaceX and Telsa is how quickly we learn.

It’s okay to fail, as long as we learn quickly and progress from it.

The progress with reusable rockets at SpaceX is impressive.

Can’t wait for more to come soon.  😉

Goals Vs. Tactics

I liked this saying from someone in the IDF.

Be “flexible in tactics, but stay fixed on the goals!”

There are many ways to accomplish the same thing.

And different people have their own approaches.

As in the lyrics: “You take the high road and I’ll take the low road.”

That’s absolutely okay.

In fact, that’s one of the strengths and benefits of diversity.

We bring different ways of looking at the world to the table.

Hence, we can bounce fresh ideas off each other and come to a great way forward.

The main thing is that we focus on our goals and progress to achieve them.

Be rigid on goals and flexible in tactics. 😉

Beautiful Architecture, Washington DC

Check out this beautiful exterior architecture.

This fine exquisite pattern is all around this building by Metro Center.

I think this must’ve been restored over the last few years, because I don’t remember it being this colorful and awesome in the past.

Civilization can still create some amazing works…whether technology, medical cures, and even beautiful pieces of artwork.

Now we just need to proceed with the positives of creativity and productivity without destroying ourselves with indifference, dysfunction, and mismanagement in the process. 😉

Hungry Pac-Man

Saw this in a window from the street.

Pac-Man eating the dots/pellets and going for the ghost.

The classic arcade video game from 1980s still speaks volumes.

Pac-Man is goal-oriented and hungrily eat the pellet pieces, but if the ghosts touch him first then he’s toast (or at least one of his 3 lives are).

Not so different from real life…

We try to reach our goals, by taking one bite at a time until we “eat the elephant.”

But if those people who are naysayers, haters, Debbie Downers, and obstructionists, get to us first, then we can not only lose momentum, and but also eventually be forced to divert or miss out on achieving our goals.

Ghosts aren’t hollow friendly creatures, but those who want to stop progress, stop you, and maybe even end your pellet-eating life.

You need to eat the super “power pellets” to overcome and eat the ghosts.

Eating all the pellets can be a herculean task requirement strength, resourcefulness, and determination, but that’s what takes you to the next level in the game of life. 😉

Life Is Like A Sailboat

Planning is a critical aspect of making progress toward your goals.

As they say;

If you fail to plan, plan to fail.

However, planning is subject to life–and life happens!

One colleague of mine compared it to a sailboat, and our dialogue went something like this:

You set out on a course. But the wind and ocean current takes you here and there. Even as you try to steer the boat with the sails and rudder, sometimes you land on Gilligan’s Island!

Hence, life is like a sailboat.  😉

Listen, Empathize, Give A Little

A colleague was talking to me about negotiating and working with others:

He said something I liked:

Listen, empathize, and give a little.

Yes, we each have our beliefs and positions on things.

But we don’t live in a vacuum.

Other people have their own views, sensitivities, and wants.

We have to get along so we can work together, and get things done.

It starts by listening–not just hearing, but really listening to what the other person is saying.

But that’s not really enough.

To really understand the other person, we have to try to empathize with what they are feeling–we need to try to walk in their shoes even if just for a moment.

But that also isn’t enough.

We can’t have it all our way–we need to give a little to get a little.

No one can have everything and have a good relationship like that.

We need to compromise–as long as it’s not on things of integrity, conviction, or G-d.

Everything else we have to listen, empathize, and give a little.  😉

Winding Path Of Life

Thought this was an interesting commentary on life.

Perhaps, we seek a straight line–with no bumps or bruises–to go from where we are to where we want to be.

But life has others plans for us.

The road ahead is often winding and where we truly end up is often unknown.

Certainly, staying frozen in place and doing nothing with our lives is not an option.

So we move forward, one step at a time, and occasionally taking a leap forward.

Also, sometimes, we have to take a few steps backward before we can advance again.

Other times, we may even stumble and fall.

Whatever happens, we continue to work our way towards the landing at the top to see what we shall see. 😉
