Israel 2020: Day 6
Did a nice beach walk from Tel Aviv to Jaffa.
It was sunny and warm out.
Lots of people exercising, running, and enjoying the outdoors.
The blue Mediterranean Sea, the white sand, and breeze in the air was lovely.
Even a funny statue of former Prime Minister Ben-Gurion doing a headstand as he used to do in his fitness routine.
Shabbat is a good time to stop and take that much needed walk on the beach. 😉

Ocean of Words
I really like this phrase from a book that I’m reading called “Like Dreamers.”
An ocean of words and a desert of ideas.
Too often, we hear people who like to hear themselves talk, think very highly of themselves, show off, or just spout away.
And while they say a lot…
There may not be a lot there.
New ideas, thoughts, ways of looking at things, innovation, creativity, outside the box thinking–that’s like a desert!
In Yiddish (and it’s always funnier in Yiddish), we say:
A big, big mouth, and a tiny, tiny head.
Similarly, in Hebrew, there is phrase that translates to:
Say a little, and do a lot.
Sometimes, the smartest people are the ones who use their words wisely, strategically, with depth and meaning, and when they really have something to say.
It’s at that time that you better be listening. 😉

Panorama: Ocean and Beach
Thought this was pretty cool…
Panorama of Ocean and Beach.
Made it look the the ocean is in between the beach.
Love the “special effect.”
Feels a little like Moshes who led the Israelites through the (Red) Sea.
Anyway, nice to get away a little and see life through a different lens. 😉
Shabbat Shalom and Chag Sameach!

Go U.S.A.!
Beach Wheelchair
This was really nice to see.
Someone invented a beach wheelchair.
Thoughtful for people with disabilities.
Not sure how well it actually would work to try and push this over the sand dunes.
But I credit people for trying to help other people.
Too often, we only think of ourselves.
It’s inconvenient to think of those with less or with problems and in need.
But when we come out of or own heads, we can uplift ourselves as well as others to the beach or wherever else they want to go. 😉

Stupidest Holiday Gifts
Ok, this wins the prize for the stupidest holiday gift.
It comes from Brookstone, and it’s sand.
Yes, really–98% sand and 2% polymer to make it “soft and stretchy.”
You can get one jar of sand (12 ounces) for $14.99 or be even more stupid and buy 2 jars for $25.
Just imagine all the fun you can have playing with the sand, and you don’t even have to go to the beach or the dessert.
The bus fare or gasoline you save on the trip pays for this glorious sand in probably just one or two visits.
This is truly Pet Rock redux, where this guy sold 1.5 million rocks at the holiday time in the 1970’s and became a millionaire.
It’s amazing the marketing and branding brilliance behind this.
Imagine, you can sell rocks and sand and there are millions of people that actually take this seriously and buy it.
Next up, bottled flatulence (ok, I’ll just say it…farts!) 😉
