Good Face, Ugly Mask

So many faces, so much phoniness.

Why can’t we just deal with genuine people?

Not like the dummies in this picture.

Everyone seems to put on a face.

One person comes in the room, puts on a big smile and then drops it like you do your pants in the bathroom (excuse the comparison).

But it’s just so wax!

Another person is talking it up, but you can see just under the thin veneer, they are a boiling powder keg ready to go off.

Faces are for expression–to feel and to share.

However, they are used to deceive and fool the world around them.

Is it a face or a mask.

What’s behind it–good or evil?

If you don’t look past the superficial then you are the real dummy.  😉

Hate, Discrimination, and Violence…But We’re One

Unity

As we live day-to-day in near endless and escalating cycles of hate, discrimination and violence along national, religious, racial, gender and other divides…

It is nice and refreshing to see someone wearing a t-shirt this morning that says:

“One World, One Dream”

I don’t know what the Asian characters above it say…but hopefully, it’s more hopefullness!

Unfortunately, without a common enemy–whether disasters, plague or alien invasion–what divides us normally seems stronger than what holds us together.

Hence, routine murders, maimings, abductions, rapes, enslavement, and harrassment of one neighbor against the other.

We behave like little children fighting for the toys in the sandbox except with consequences that can elevate all the way to genocide or WMD.

As we squabble with each other, perhaps there are moments when we can have the self-awareness and strength of character to actually look in the mirror with some shame for how low we’ll stoop to get our share in a world of divine comedy.

Wouldn’t it be nice for humanity to change ways and instead have compassion on each other (children of G-d), share the toys, and end the miserable hate. 😉

The Cup Runneth Over

Fountain

I took this photo today in Washington, D.C. near the Capital.

It’s a really nice fountain…actually 3 double-fountains in a row.

The top fountains run over into the bottom ones, which in turn runs over into the larger pool basin at the bottom.

I like the contrast between the grey and white stone, the gold fountain, and the pewter basin with the water overflowing between them.

As the water (a symbolism of life) continues unabated to run over in the fountain, so too, I pray that our good fortune is abundant and overflowing, and that we have more than we than enough for our needs, and plenty extra to share with others. 😉
