A Smooth Jazz Shabbat Shalom to all!
A little song.
A little dance.
We’re back in the groove.
Thank G-d for Friday, because then comes Shabbat! 😉

Please see my new article in The Times of Israel called, “Heartfelt Challenges.”
It’s about some of my reflection on having a heart condition.
Over time, what I’ve learned is that what is really important in life is not money, honor, power, or pleasure, but the simple things of family, community, faith, caring, giving, and generally trying your best in all circumstances. Every day is a chance to keep learning.
Praying and hoping that please G-d everything goes well with the upcoming procedure.

Just thought this was really beautiful.
The yellow butterflies with the background of the blue from the sky and ocean, and the white of the soft clouds.
Feeling like this makes my heart sing.
Sort of like love.
It’s simple, but so clear.
We’re free and flying alone, but together.
We’re one with the universe and also with each other.
Butterfly, butterfly into the wild blue yonders.
No worries, just soaring, at peace, happy, and oh so free. 😉

Times may be tough.
But I have faith in G-d.
I turn to Him in whatever challenge or enemy arises.
My heart is singing to Him.
Hashem Melech.
Hashem Malach.
Hashem Yimloch L’Olam VaEd
In English:
G-d is king.
G-d was king.
G-d will be king forever.
What other reassurance in life could we ever want or need.
My heart is singing.
Hashem is G-d.
Hashem is One.
Yes, it is singing.
I have faith that all will be well.
– Peace, Health, Happiness, Prosperity.
Because it is G-d who rules now and forever and ever! 😉

(Note 1: Incredibly, this is my first song and it came to me early on the Shabbat where we read the portion of the Torah when G-d miraculously led the Israelites through the split sea and they sang the “Shirah” (song) of thanksgiving to G-d for saving and redeeming them from slavery to freedom, and I didn’t even know it was this Shabbat!)
(Note 2: I would love if someone can put this to music and make this into an amazing song to G-d.)

Only in Starbucks Florida…
Does Buddy the bird sing and dance inside the shop next to the coffee drinkers.
Here, my wife was doing some writing for the Federal Communicators Network.
And she is very serious about her writing–and don’t bug her when she’s into it.
But Buddy was a different story…
He proudly walked right over the iPad pink keyboard.
And then headed for another circuit around the table.
Picking up keys, ripping up the New York Times, hanging upside down, and playing with everyone who was only too happy to pay him attention.
When I asked Buddy if he liked Starbucks coffee, he started bopping up and down like crazy–it was hilarious.
As to my wife’s computer and writing, this was about the only thing that she would allow to disturb her.
I was surprised she didn’t eat the bothersome bird, but even she had to laugh at his gall to step into her virtual world of writing, brands, and social media. 😉

So last night, I dreamed about my beloved dad.
He was in synagogue praying–something he did every day.
I was telling my dad that it was time to go.
But he didn’t want to leave–synagogue was his favorite place to be close to G-d and his friends.
My dad was in the front of the synagogue elevated on the steps before the Holy Ark (where the Torahs are kept).
I looked at my dad and somehow knew/felt that he was near death.
I ran to him and threw my arms around him in an incredible completely loving hug–clutching on to him to stay with us, longer.
In this embrace, I could feel his total and undying love for me.
Now he no longer looked like my dad but like a being of light–such as I had never seen.
He had died, but was still somehow alive in another way.
I miss my dad–he was a truly holy man (a Tzadik) and a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who would do anything for us.
I wish I could sit and speak with him again, hold his hand, hear him sing when we came over, and see him smile.

No it’s not my diet, just my impromptu spoofing of a song by Awkwafina.
We took a hike to the local Kosher deli and it just sort of happened.
Enjoying a beautiful, sunny Spring day and got a little inspired to try my hand at something new and fun. 😉
Just another talented day in the Washington, D.C. Metro.
These guys are good!
Enjoy–and hope everyone has a nice weekend.
