C Stands For Couch

What a cool design for a recreational space.

C stands for Couch.

And a big red one one it is.

Some blue chairs on the periphery.

And a little dot coffee table in the center.

The fake greenery on the wall is kludgy, but we know what they were trying to say.

Overall, a nice welcoming space.  😉

Great Chair and Ottoman

Wow, love this RED chair and ottoman.

The chair practically reaches out to grab you.

And the ottoman is an almost perfect ball.

Like two pieces that were made to be together.

You can’t help but sit down, get comfortable, and have the best rest of your life!  😉

Can’t Sit, Can’t Stand

So I’ve been having this excruciating lower back pain for about a week.

I literally cannot sit or stand without shooting pain.

When I sit, it hurts the lower back so much to get up.

And when I stand, all I want to do is relieve the pressure and sit down.

I feel like the warning from G-d in the Torah where He says (Deuteronomy 28:67):

In the morning you will say ‘”If only it were evening!” and in the evening “If only it were morning!”

The only real relief so far is lying down or going in the pool.

Planning to see the doctor to check it out and hopefully with G-d’s mercy it will be better very soon.  😉

Having Each Other

So I hurt my back last week.

Incredibly painful.

Difficult getting up from sitting or laying position.

Today, I was trying to walk it off a little.

One of my kids was walking with me taking good care of me.

We ran into a neighbor.

She was nice and asked about what happened.

I told her in brief and said how grateful I was for my daughter taking me for a little walk while I try to heal with G-d’s help.

She smiled and said how lucky I was (which I acknowledged).

I asked if she had any kids, thinking that she did.

But she goes to me:

I have no one!

I was a little surprised that she didn’t have anyone and how she said it.

I sort of repeated it quizzically.

She goes:

Well I did have a cat but she was 19 years old and I had to put her down.

I felt really bad for her, especially since I know she had an operation this last year and is planned for another one coming up.

I said that we’re her neighbors and friends and that she can call on us whenever she needs someone.

This whole thing just made me so upset–no one should be so alone.

I  really pray that G-d has mercy on his children and that no one should be alone and that we should all have caring and loving people around us always. 😉

Don’t Just Sit There

Really liked this robot (Cubebot) in the store.

Love the colors and that you can change the pose in all different ways.

This robot is pretty darn cute!

It’s funny in this sitting position though.

Just want to say:

Don’t just sit there, do something!

Probably not that long before robots will be all over the place.

We’ll wish for just a little privacy from the darn things, just like from our 24/7 computer gadgets that we can’t let go of now.

Yes, we’re hopelessly dependent on the technology–it’s so helpful and we love it, but we can’t turn it off.

They won’t be sitting for long.

Robots–big and small, alone and in swarms, male and female, strong and intricate, smart and simple, worker and homemaker, doer and helper, companion and lover, where will it stop–it won’t. 😉

Ergonomics Ah!

So today I went for an ergonomic training and assessment.

Never did this before.

It was pretty awesome.

The person had 4 degrees in ergonomics and really seemed to know what they were talking about.

They got me set up in a special ergonomic chair with a footrest, bio-design mouse, and task lighting.

I tell you that I never sat so straight, perfectly contoured, and completely comfortable.

They almost had to pry my butt out of that chair after I test drove it for over an hour in training.

OMG, there is a difference.

Don’t need carpal tunnel.

Don’t need sciatica.

Don’t need neck, shoulder, and back pain.

I even learned that the standing desks can be BAD for you–they put undue stress on your musculature and may actually result in a notable DECREASE in concentration and productivity.

Anyway, from the stupid chairs that I’ve seen most people have–and the lousy posture they sit with–I’d recommend seeing the ergonomist. 😉

We Watch The Years Go By

fullsizerender

On a lighter note today, I took this photo of a couple watching their kids playing soccer.

They are sitting in Dick’s chairs.

His (blue) and hers (pink).

Very cute!

The new generation grows up and supplants their elders–who still may feel “young at heart!”

As I get older, it definitely seems like time goes faster (and faster).

It isn’t that some days aren’t long, but that overall the less time we have as we get into the latter portions of our life, the quicker it all seems to be passing.

So much so that it all becomes like one big dream (it should never be a nightmare, G-d forbid).

If only we could rewind and redo the portions of our lives where we made mistakes, hurt others or ourselves, or could have just done better.

I’m not sitting in those chairs yet, but when I do, I hope it is with pleasure of heart, mind, and soul–with G-d’s mercy. 😉

How Men And Women Sit

Men and Women.jpeg

This was funny-sad on the train in Washington, D.C.

This couple–a man and women–are sitting together.

The man (on the right) is completely sprawling out.

The women (on the left) is squishing almost off the seat.

So what is it with men–a testosterone, macho thing–exerting sexuality, power, and dominance–or it is just carelessness and callousness in how to treat women?

For women–is it reticence and modesty or are they accepting being mistreated or even abused?

People’s weight aside, it seems that men and women should each be given their own and equal space on the Metro or otherwise in life.

This presumed gender power struggle is not a good thing–love should be equal in feeling, giving, and in time, and space. 😉

Sit-Stand Computer Desk 1-2-3

This adjustable computer desk stand from Veridesk for sitting and standing is awesome.

Someone got this in the office, and it is the talk of the town.

It comes as one piece, no assembly required and you just place it under your computer–simple, easy!

Just push the handles on either side and the desk height adjusts variably up or down.

I found it on Amazon for just $325-$400 depending on the size and whether you have a double monitor.

My colleague at work said just try it and you will feel so good–this seems like a good healthy deal. 😉
