A Future Beyond Fear

This is my spin on a Jack Canfield saying, but I like it this way:

“The future is on the other side of fear.”

Sometimes we feel hemmed in or torn down by life.

And there is plenty of fear of failure and not being able to do what we need to do.

But the only way to get there is to get past the fear!

You need to look straight ahead into the future of what you want.

And you need to overcome your worst fear…that you’re not good enough, you’re not smart enough, you’re not strong enough, and you’re not beautiful enough.

…and the gnawing feeling inside that you can’t do it.

This is precisely when you need to center yourself, strengthen yourself, and pray for G-d’s help.

Whether to get over it, under it, or through it.

The future–your future–is on the other side of that fear–that fear that is holding you back.

No, you’re not stupid, ugly, weak, or unworthy.

Yes, you’re a child of the G-d on the most high.

So you can reach deep and reach high to accomplish your mission in life.

You can truly leap over mountains and even reach for the stars.

No, it’s not beyond you.

It’s right in front of you.

Take that deep breath, clench your fist, gird you sword, and ready yourself in every way.

The fear holding you back is yours to conquer.

And the future is yours to be had. 😉

Style From Head To Toe

Death Hat.jpegRed Sneakers.jpeg

So I took these photos of two young fashionable men.

The first had a very cool “Death” cap on.

And the second had the reddest pair of sneakers, I’ve ever seen.

Both were stylish standouts!

To me, the hat confronted the scariness of death head-on (excuse the pun) or that the person is themselves, in a sense, death to anyone that starts with them or gets in their way–it is not only bold in terms of the big white letters, but in terms of the courage to face the harshest of all our realities.

Then to the shoes, going red and untied, spoke to me in terms of looseness, comfort, and ease with yourself–you are who you are and the world be darned!

Both the cap and the shoes are in your face and make a statement of cool nonchalance and the daringness to confront “whatever.” 😉

Hate Ties, But Love These

Ermenegildo Zegna.jpeg

I hate neck ties in general, but love these specifically.

If you have to wear a tie, these strong gorgeous silk ones called Quindici by Ermenegildo Zegna are absolutely beautiful.

At a retail price of $285 each at Nordstrom’s, they are not cheap, but what a powerful and confident accent for any formal outfit.

These are all for me! 😉

The Many Faces Of Coffee

Coffee

Coffee wakes us the “f— up”.

Coffee Sleep Dead

There is enough time to sleep when we are dead.

Coffee 3

Coffee isn’t just a nice to have.

Coffee Time

It’s always coffee time.

Coffee Bean

Coffee beans give us the sharp flavor and the quick pick me up.

Coffee Relax

Coffee is not only for working, but for relaxing.

I’ll take mine iced with half & half and plenty of sweetener.

Taking Back Control

Superman

Ok, I’ve had mobility issues for over 2 years now that started with a broken foot and ended in 3 surgeries and 2 hip replacements.

Over this time, I have had enormous pain walking and doing other activities.

And unfortunately, I have put on some extra weight, which I am unhappy about.

Today though this changes, please G-d.

I am taking back my life!

I want to lose the weight and be what I know I can be.

Time to stop the excuses.

It’s Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) next week, and this is a good time to reflect, be introspective, self-critical, and aim high.

G-d, please help me to be strong, to resist temptation, and shut my mouth from eating the wrong foods.

I am determined, but G-d I need your help to be successful.

We’ve accomplished so much together–let’s do this! 😉

Flying Garbage

Flying Garbage
Thought this was an interesting way to get the garbage to the curbside truck.

This guy is standing in the yard of this brownstone building in the leftover snow.

Almost like an Olympian, he is picking up bag after bag of garbage and tossing them at least a dozen feet (or more).

The garbage in these big hefty bags are sailing through the air to his partner standing by the truck in the street.

This guy must be getting quite some exercise not only lifting, but also throwing these bags all day long.

And he actually seemed to be having some fun doing it too.

Like my wife said, “What if you get hit by the garbage…ew.

Fly garbage, fly! 😉

Halo Arrives To Our Warfighters

So excited about the Army’s experimental Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS).

This is really our fast, strong, and agile fighting force of the future.

The integration of technologies for the individual warfighter, including sensors, exoskeleton body armor, weapon systems, communications, and monitoring of health and power makes this an unbelievable advance.

I think the MIT research on magnetorheological fluids–which convert from liquid to solid body armor in milliseconds (sort of like Terminator 2) with a magnetic field or electric current (controlled, so the enemy doesn’t bog down the forces) is a true game changer for balancing agility and force protection.

In the future, I believe these suits will even incorporate capabilities to drive, dive, and fly.

This will complement unmanned swarms of dumb drones with intelligent human fighters that will take the battlefield on Earth and beyond. 😉
