Not 4 Valentines Day

Not 2Nite.jpeg

Valentines Day is the holiday of love.

And this photo is not the message you want to see or expect today–of all days!

Anyway, they were selling this sleep mask at the mall.

One one side, it says “Ready”–yeah, a little forward, but problem welcome by most partners.

On the other side, it reads, “Not 2Nite”–gasps and disappointment for sure.

What type of Valentines Day are you going to have?

Love is in the air, enjoy!

Some Nice Hats For Shabbat

Hats

Just some fashion festive before Shabbat.

Suggestions for some nice hats for Jewish ladies who cover their hair in synagogue or out.

I don’t think these were designed for that purpose, but it just made me think that it does the trick.

Modesty before G-d and for the sanctification of marriage.

It’s a nice Jewish custom that seems holy and beautiful.

Two Days–Two Scary Statistics

American Flag Scarf

(Source Photo: Dannielle Blumenthal)

Happy Presidents’ Day today!

The picture is of a snoozing guy on the Washington, D.C. metro with a scarf that looks like the American Flag.

Scary statistic of the day:

Robots and artificial intelligence are forecast to push unemployment to 50% by 2045

Is that a good thing because people will have more time for leisure?

No says the experts…work gives live meaning, and without it we’ll all be sleeping our time away on the Metro.

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine’s Day yesterday!

This photo is of luscious chocolate covered strawberries from Godiva.

Scary statistic of the day:

About 1 in 5 people over the age of 25 (about 42 million people) has never been married, and the median age for marriage is 27 for women and 29 for men and rising.

Is this a good thing since people are perhaps further along in their education and career then and more ready to get married and have this as a priority?

No, says the research, since 50% believe that we are simply not better off with marriage and children as priorities.

_________

With these two holidays and statistics taken together, we are heading towards a very jobless and loveless future.

Andy’s advice for the young folks (who of course won’t listen because they are young):

1) Get married and get bliss!

2) Get a technology degree and get employed!

You can have a job and a spouse…little human-robot children to follow. 😉

Extra Special Delivery

Valentines Delivery
I took this photo in Washington D.C. of a bicycle messenger delivery with Valentines Day treats.

He was carrying an assortment of balloons and gifts (those are hiding in the basket under the balloons)!

What do you think chocolate, flowers, or something even more romantic?

There is enough hate and hostility in the world.

It’s wonderful when love is in the air and people show each other that they really care.

Going home from a day at work, and what can be nicer than someone waiting for you when you get there. 😉

GW Valentines Day

GW Valentine's Day

So this is how they celebrate Valentines Day at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

These posters of George Washington were plastered everywhere and each one had the big kiss lips on it as well as some provocative saying penned on its forehead.

This one in particular sort of got right to the intimate point saying “My place or yours?”

I believe this was the student’s attempt at humor and hopefully meant no disrespect to good old GW.

Anyway, kids will be kids–they celebrate in all sorts of interesting and innovative ways.

Happy

Paperman, For Dannielle

Valentines Day is next week, but I wanted to share this with someone very special to me, Dannielle.

This wonderful movie short by Disney called Paperman shows the amazing chemistry between two people that draws them to each other.

I love how the man and women laugh on the train platform holding the paper with the lipstick on it and how from his office when he sees her in the skyscraper across the street, he jumps up and down waving trying to get her attention.

The movie reminds me of another favorite, The Red Balloon, where a little boy Pascal at the end is carried off by a cluster of sentient balloons, just as in this movie the man is carried off to his love by the paper airplanes he made to try to connect with her.

While I am usually not one for animation, this one captures it just right! 😉
